One of Florence's two forts, and enjoying a panoramic view over the city, this admirable piece of architecture was designed and built by Bernardo Buontalenti for Ferdinando I de' Medici in the late 16th century. It marks the final stage of the Vasari Corridor that was designed to link Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens via a series of corridors, bridges and gardens.
It became a venue for international contemporary art exhibitions in 2013.
